Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 22, 2026

Ask the Record is operated by Visionairy, LLC, an Oregon limited liability company located at 18160 Cottonwood Rd PMB 263, Sunriver, OR 97707. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

What we collect

Email address

When you register, sign in, or subscribe to release alerts, we store your email. This is used to identify your account, track your monthly question quota, send sign-in magic-links, and notify you when new declassifications are added.

Name

Optionally provided at registration. Used only to address you by first name in the product.

Questions you ask

We log every question submitted, along with the mode (Citations, Interpretation, or Deep Research), token usage, response time, and whether a grounding warning was triggered. This helps us monitor costs, catch abuse, and improve the service.

Saved answers

Anyone with a free account can save answers. These are stored in our database and associated with your email.

Anonymous device identifier

Before you register, we assign a random ID to your browser session to enforce the three-question anonymous limit. This ID is not linked to any personal information.

Bot-detection signal

We use Cloudflare Turnstile to distinguish humans from automated scrapers. Turnstile evaluates browser characteristics in the background and may set a short-lived token. No personal data is collected by this check — see Cloudflare's Turnstile privacy statement for details.

Payment information

Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. Stripe shares only what is necessary to confirm a successful payment.

How we use it

  • To provide and personalize the service (question quotas, saved answers, first-name greetings, Pro feature access).
  • To understand usage patterns and improve the product.
  • To send transactional emails (sign-in magic-links, payment receipts) and release-day notifications if you've opted in. We do not send marketing email without your consent.
  • To prevent abuse, enforce rate limits, and verify bot-detection challenges.

Third-party services

Supabase

Database and authentication infrastructure. Data is stored in the US.

Stripe

Payment processing. Governed by Stripe's privacy policy.

Cloudflare

Hosting, edge delivery, and bot detection (Turnstile). Cloudflare may log request metadata (IP, user agent) per their standard policies.

Resend

Transactional email delivery. Used for sign-in magic-links, account communications, and release-day notifications.

OpenRouter / Voyage AI / underlying AI providers

Your questions are embedded (turned into numerical vectors) by Voyage AI and processed by language models accessed through OpenRouter (currently Google Gemini and Meta Llama tiers). For standard asks, one query is sent. For Deep Research (Pro), up to twelve related sub-queries are generated and processed in the same way. We do not send your name or email to these providers — only the question text and the source passages retrieved from our corpus.

Cookies

We use two HttpOnly session cookies (small files stored in your browser that websites can read but JavaScript cannot): one that holds your email address (so you stay signed in across visits) and one that holds your first name. These cookies expire after one year. No advertising or tracking cookies are used.

Data retention

We retain account data and question logs indefinitely for service operation and abuse prevention. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing us.

Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by contacting us at contact@asktherecord.com. We will respond within 30 days.
